Mathematics

This academic year the pupils have worked well and are learning new skills in Maths. Children and young people continue to thrive and enjoy Maths through a wide range of activities, which the Teachers and TA’s deliver in a wide variety of ways to encourage the pupils to be engaged and enthusiastic about the subject.

The Maths Focus Week looked at Number this year where the pupils explored a range of number activities both inside and out. Each class had a variety of tasks to explore during the week including, quantities, finding numbers within flour, number games outside, counting games on the computer and singing number songs. The classes shared a range of resources across the school and ideas on how to deliver captivating lesson. Pupils used IPads, SMART boards, and computers to support their visual style of learning and specialist teacher integrated activities into their lessons to support the focus as well.

Resources are continuingly being updated and replaced when needed and new materials are brought to support the pupils in their learning. New IPad apps and web pages are shared with teachers in weekly staff meetings. Sharing resources and activities is a high focus so that the pupils at Amwell View have the best opportunities of learning in a variety of ways to keep them engaged.
