Music Therapy

Here is a quick update from the Music Therapy side of things. I have continued working five days a week this year with children from all across the school, I currently see twenty two individuals two small groups and six class groups, as well as supporting extracurricular music activities with Rachel. On this front the music department have started two new clubs. Music Technology club has started and is being supported by Carl from IT. The purpose of the club is to use computers to help children to compose some of their own music and to use music computer games to facilitate hand eye coordination. It has been a success and we have made some fantastic tracks which the students will be able to keep on a cd.

The other new club is called Live Lounge and is being run with the musical assistance of Nathan and Ellen. This has been a great pleasure to be part of and our rotating audience means that all the pupils get to attend. It has given an opportunity to introduce some live music to the children at school, such as a wide variety of pop, and more participatory songs with opportunities for the children to sing to a large audience of friendly faces.

Recently I have been working with the students 2 in a leavers group and we have been working on a song for Leaver’s Assembly.
