Music Therapy


Music Therapy at Amwell View School has been different this year due to building work. I started the year without a room.


As a result I saw every class in the school in class size groups. This required quite a different approach to Music Therapy than I have been used to which was challenging but it was very rewarding to get to see and work with the whole school. My room was completed by January and so I have moved back to more traditional Music Therapy work but with more emphasis on group work. It has been really nice to see how well the students have been progressing this year and has given me tremendous job satisfaction.


I have completed a Music Therapy leaflet which explains what Music Therapy is and how it works at Amwell View, these are available in the school. Also a Music Therapy parents group was opened up for parents of children in the lower years, this has given me an opportunity to get to know some of the parents through an informal music and coffee jam.


I have also moved up to working five days a week for this year which has given me the opportunity to get involved with Music Lab and the school choir, which has been great and given me new experiences.
