PANATHLON CHALLENGE

Date : 11-Dec-2013

On Wed 11th Dec 2013 pupils from Amwell View took part in a Panathlon Challenge at Wodson Park Sports Centre, Ware alongside other SLD Schools based in Herts. The Panathon Challenge seeks to inspire young disabled people to use competitive sport and fair play as a means of personal and social development.

Amwell View promoted the challenge within the Herts SLD Schools having taken a group of pupils to experience the Panathlon Challenge at Stoke Mandeville in May 2013. For many SLD schools it was an introduction to some new sporting activities.

Penny Warner, Head of PE said “It was a very successful event, pupils took part on a rotational basis to play Table Cricket, Polybat, Boccia and New Age Kurling. After lunch they took part in Indoor field activities which included target throw, seated shot put, foam javelin and standing long jump.”

The competition was supported by a team of Sports Leaders from Richard Hale and three Sports Leaders from Amwell View.
